Start your horsemanship journey with us today!

Smoketown Hollow is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Kevin and Anna Draeger. Horses have always been a foundational piece of their lives. Together, Anna and Kevin have trained horses for Kristjan Kristjansson and Johanna Gudmundsdottir of Thor Icelandics and Katrin Sheehan of Creekside Farm. Smoketown Hollow was purchased by the team in 2024.

Their professional experiences over the years have demonstrated the incredible connections horses can create and the continual growth we can all have in our horsemanship journey. Anna and Kevin work to integrate modern training practices and provide individualized services tailored to each horse and rider.

Whether pursuing competition, trail riding, or liberty, let’s reach your goals together and have fun in the process! Welcome to a community of growth, education, and support.

Kevin

Kevin began riding Icelandic horses in 2002. In 2005, Kevin had his first internship at Winterhorse Park in Eagle, WI, working with Ann-Christin Kloth (IPZV B) and Alexandra Pregitzer (IPZV C) and competed in his first Icelandic horse competition. Kevin soon became dedicated to the sport and furthered his education working for Guðmar Þór Pétursson (FT) in KY. In 2010, Kevin represented the United States at the FEIF Youth Cup in Denmark. Along with successes on the oval track, Kevin spent many years training horses of all levels with an emphasis on young horse training.

Anna

Anna began her equine education with Mary Cecil of Hollygarth Stables. It was through Mary, that Anna was introduced into Classical Dressage, via lessons with clinician, François Lemaire De Ruffieu.

Anna graduated from Murray State University with a B.S. in Equine Science (2016) and M.S. (2020).

In addition to her time at Thor Icelandics and Creekside Farm, Anna spent several years working as the Assistant Trainer and riding instructor at Taktur Icelandics. While at Taktur, Anna gained her Equine Sports Massage Therapy certification (Equissage), and her FEIF Trainer Level 1 license.
